Increase In Live Entertainment
Live entertainment is booming and doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. The average concert ticket costs $128.46, up 34% from the same time just six years ago, and the average show grossed more than $2.4 million, up 29% from a year ago. With an average American attending at least one show a year, the numbers are expected to keep rising, as “funflation” takes hold over the potential financial hit.
What States Are Spending
One state tops the list, Virginia, with an average cost of $446 per person for a live event. While at the bottom of the list, Mississippi $25 per person for a live event.
States following Virginia, being nearly all coastal states, Hawaii was second, spending $408, California was third, spending $322, and Missouri and Massachusetts were tied at $235. Outside of Mississippi, states that charge a bit more are West Virginia, Louisiana, and Iowa, not peaking over $50 a person.
What Does This Mean?
With live entertainment becoming more and more popular over the last few years, the rise in price for them will continue to follow as fans are willing to pay the price to see their favorite artist, performer, comedian, orchestra, show, etc. The demand for in-person experiences isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
