Unexpected Team-Up
It has been 15 days since we last saw Kid Rock testifying against Live Nation and Ticketmaster for their “monopoly” over the ticket industry. Now, teaming up with the two corporations for his upcoming tour “Freedom 250“, by locking tickets purchased at face value. He will also be using a walled garden ticketing system to restricts transfer of tickets from one account to another and limit resale outside of the Ticketmaster-controlled system.
Kid Rock stated that if a fan is unable to attend a show, the only place to resell those tickets will be on Ticketmaster, making sure that no tickets go to other sites for profit and every resale ticket is 100% legit. The ultimate goal, “…but it’s a real step to shut down scalpers and protect fans. No extra cost to fans — same tickets, same prices, just fairer access.”
Even though he just testified on Capitol Hill about the ticketing industry and calling out Live Nation and Ticketmaster’s monopoly, he believes this is in the best interest of the fans, as “the economic foundation that supported artists in the past is crumbling”. He believes that this team-up is the best solution that he can come up with at this time.
